The 8th Dr. A.K. Saha Young Scientists Experimental Projects Contest
Springdales School, Dhaula Kuan held the 8th Dr. A.K. Saha Young Scientists Experimental Projects Inter-School Contest on August 9th, 2012. The project was initiated by two former students - Dr. Abhijit Saha and Dr. Prasenjit Saha in the memory of their late father Dr. A.K. Saha, former Scientist at National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi.

This Annual venture enables the development of a scientific attitude towards experimentation, a spirit of curiosity and objectivity among budding scientists.

This year three events were held for different levels of students, Model Making, Science quiz and the most challenging investigatory projects competition.

Springdales School, Dhaula Kuan, with the topic "Malaria - an Enigma" won the Indian Science Congress Trophy for Innovation in science. The overall winners of the competition were Springdales School, Pusa Road where as Bluebells International won the Runners up Trophy.

Independence Day Celebrations

Celebrating 65 years of Independence, a Special Programme was held at Springdales School, Dhaula Kuan, on Monday, August 13th, 2012. Dr.Shahabuddin Yaqoob Quraishi, Former Chief Election Commissioner of India was the Chief Guest.

The welcome address delivered by Dr. Jyoti Bose, Principal, Dhaula Kuan Branch, reminded us that "We live in an era of globalization but we have forgotten how the other half lives".

This was followed by presentations, tableaux and articulations by the students on the themes of "Azad Bharat" and reflecting on "India's Tryst with Destiny", and "Where the Mind is without fear", questioning the ironical situation that despite 65 years of independence, India born out of 200 years of colonial rule, is yet to eliminate "internal colonialism", despite "National development goals" being met.The programme culminated with the Dr. S.Y. Quraishi addressing the entire student community.

The Inter Unit Cultural Festival

The Inter Unit Cultural festival was held in the auditorium on the 23rd August 2012. The theme for the year was "We are One but we are Many". All the three units put up a spectacular show comprising of Choral recitations, Songs, Skits and an array of colourful dances. The entire show reflected the adequate planning and hard work that had gone into making the programme a success.

The Choral recitation presented by our unit 'A Box of Crayons' and the skit 'The Sandwich Swap' were in consonance with the theme for this year. Mrs. Kumar applauded the efforts put in by all three units to make the programme a grand success.
