Springdales School, Dhaula Kuan held the Valedictory Function of its Africa Week Celebrations on July 18th 2007. The date coincides with the birthday of Dr. Nelson Mandela, freedom fighter and guiding spirit behind the anti-apartheid movement.
Setup in 1971 under the aegis of Dr. Rajni Kumar, Chairperson, Springdales Education Society and greatly motivated by the Late Mrs. Lakshmi Sheshadri, Staff Advisor, the Africa Club of Springdales is highly active in creating awareness of and sensitivity towards the great continent and its people. From Poster Making to Poetry writing various activities are organized in the school and all classes participate enthusiastically. This year the theme for Africa Week was “Peace, Development and Prosperity — The Indo – African Era”.
In a colourful and vibrant programme the students rendered a cultural presentation of the South African freedom struggle. A report on the activities of the Africa Club was read and an award giving ceremony held. The Lakshmi Sheshadri Memorial Trophy for overall Best Performance was won by Freedom House.

Spring dales school, Dhaula kuan, New Delhi, India and Impington Village College Cambridgeshire, U.K. have been engaged in the Department for International Develpement Global School Partnerships Programme of the British Council for a three year period under the auspices of the Global Curriculum Project. In this final year of the exchange programme, a delegation comprising six students and two teachers visited Impington Village College, Cambridgeshire from July 4th to July 12th. This year the curriculum dealt with the influence of colonial values on Indian literature and art and vise versa, and the fact that cross cultural exchanges between India and U.K. have led to an amalgamation of cultures. Other issues dealt with were a realization of the negative aspects of colonialism on the one hand and appreciation of colonial heritage on the other. Ending the three year partnership on a celebratory note was a vibrant cultural programme with Bharat Natyam, Bhangra a piano recital and a dance, by tudents of Springdales and the host school. The spirit of international brotherhood was evident throughout the trip and the return visit by I.V.C. in October 2007, is now awaited.

Springdales school, DK organized a special assembly on 30th July 2007 to mark the launch the Book Week -2007 which centered this year around the theme "Learning Today for Tomorrow's World". Book week showcases aspects of learning through the eyes of children and each subject of the curriculum is allocated one day to highlight the theme. Mrs. Seema Chishti Yechuri, Associate Editor, Indian Express presided over the inaugural function which was also English day. During the Book Week students participated in various activities such as poetry writing, poster making, slogan writing, anecdotes and essay writing. The week culminated on August 4th and 5th with an exhibition of Holiday Home Work and projects which the students made during the summer vacation. The exhibition was well attended by parents and guests.
