"GLOBAL CLASSROOM PROJECT”- VISIT TO EGYPT AND JORDAN
January 7, 2010
 

A delegation of Sixteen students of the Sr. School and two Staff members, Mrs. Neelam Ravindera and Mrs. Meenakshi Gupta visited Egypt and Jordan in January this year under the ‘Global  Classroom Project’ – a program which provides a platform to launch young minds on to new horizons of exposure to art, culture, economic progress and interaction with peer students. The programe has been developed in association with Genesis of Educational Excellence, an NGO of International repute. The delegation visited the historic city of Philadelphia which owes its architectural elegance to ancient Greeks and Romans and ‘Petra’ – declared on a world heritage site by UNESCO.

The Highlight of the visit was of course the visit to the Giza Pyramids and Sphinx an exemplary work architectural excellence.

 

   
Prize Giving Function of Inter-School Maths Talent Contest

The 3rd Inter School Mathematics Talent Test was organized by Springdales School, Dhaula Kuan on October 31st, 2009 and its Prize Giving Ceremony was held on January 20th, 2010. Four Hundred and Fifty students from fourteen schools participated in the Contest which  was conducted for class VI to XII  . The top three students at each level were Awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals, whereas the students securing the next three positions were given merit certificates by the Chief Guest, Dr. S. C. Arora, Professor of Mathematics at Hansraj College.

 

   
Visit of Delegation from Experimental School, Beijing,China

As a part of the ‘Heart-to-Heart’ programme signed between Ministry of Education, Beijing and Springdales School, Dhaula Kuan, the school received a Delegation of 25 delegates from Experimental School, Beijing Normal University and Beijing Municipal UNESCO Clubs Association on 25th January 2010. This exchange programme has been on going for the past 6 years.

 

Dr. Jyoti Bose, Principal, Springdales School welcomed the delegates and congratulated the people of China on their hard work and success. She emphasized the need to have more Heart-to-Heart Exchange programmes as through education comes understanding which inevitably brings nations closer. She called upon students to be ‘true ambassadors of peace’ and cement ties between the two nations.

 

The school Choir presented a medley of songs ranging from Italian to Malyalam to a traditional sufi song, followed by reports on the strong bilateral ties and historical links shared between India and China. The students gave presentations on different aspects of Indian culture and their various exchange trips to China. A colourful cultural programme, which included a beautifully choreographed dance on the song – ‘Jai ho’ and a Bharatnatyam performance enthralled the audience. The students from China too presented a vibrant folk dance.

 

The delegates were presented mementos as tokens of friendship by Dr. Jyoti Bose, after which they proceeded for a tour of the school. A power-point presentation on the ‘Festival of India’ and an Arts Workshop were the highlights of their campus visit.
