As a part of the ‘Heart-to-Heart’ programme signed between Ministry of Education, Beijing and Springdales School, Dhaula Kuan, the school received a Delegation of 25 delegates from Experimental School, Beijing Normal University and Beijing Municipal UNESCO Clubs Association on 25th January 2010. This exchange programme has been on going for the past 6 years.
Dr. Jyoti Bose, Principal, Springdales School welcomed the delegates and congratulated the people of China on their hard work and success. She emphasized the need to have more Heart-to-Heart Exchange programmes as through education comes understanding which inevitably brings nations closer. She called upon students to be ‘true ambassadors of peace’ and cement ties between the two nations.
The school Choir presented a medley of songs ranging from Italian to Malyalam to a traditional sufi song, followed by reports on the strong bilateral ties and historical links shared between India and China. The students gave presentations on different aspects of Indian culture and their various exchange trips to China. A colourful cultural programme, which included a beautifully choreographed dance on the song – ‘Jai ho’ and a Bharatnatyam performance enthralled the audience. The students from China too presented a vibrant folk dance.
The delegates were presented mementos as tokens of friendship by Dr. Jyoti Bose, after which they proceeded for a tour of the school. A power-point presentation on the ‘Festival of India’ and an Arts Workshop were the highlights of their campus visit.
