FOR SPRINGDALES PRE-SCHOOL CLASS
For the session 2008 – 09

The Pre-school Class was previously named the Nursery Class and is for children who will attain the age of 3 years by 31st March 2008.

REGISTRATION FORMS WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE SCHOOL COUNTER from December 24th to 31st, 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. excluding Sundays and Gazetted holidays.

Although Admission will be granted for the Pre-School only, the criteria adopted for admission will be the same as for the criteria for the Pre-Primary Class, which is the entry class for the formal school, to facilitate entry to the Pre-Primary Class for the 2009-10 session.

Selection will be made through a comprehensive Registration Form which parents should fill up carefully and attach photocopies of the documents required. These will be verified from the originals at the time of interaction with parents of short listed children.

There are 102 seats (Springdales School - Pusa Road) for this class i.e. 3 sections of 34 each.

Since the number of applicants will be far more than the number of seats the forma will be graded on an 80 point weightage scale quota-wise and selection made on the merit of each case as given here under:-

1) Neighbourhood concept                - 20 Points
.a) Children living in areas covered by our notified Bus routes - 20 points
.b)Children who live in nearby areas upto 0 - 5 kms - 15 points
.c) Those who live far away but who can make satisfactory Private transport arrangement - 10 points
 
2) Siblings            20 points       
 
3) Alumni            20 points                             
. Being a 52 years old school, Springdales has a very large Alumni So, this has to be a special category at Springdales. Full points will be given to those alumni who
a) Have performed well at school in some aspect of education
b) Have kept in touch with their alma mater
c) Have become members of the Old Springdalian Association at 3 years prior to this application
For non-fulfillment of any one criteria mentioned above, 5 points for each will be deducted.
 
4) Regional, Linguistic and Religious minorities                       10 Points
Note: Our school believes in heterogeneity and celebration of diversity and that the classroom is a place where children of all communities and regions should learn and play together. Therefore, a good mix in our selection will be encouraged.
 
5) Children of Single Parents - widow/er, divorcee/unmarried               10 Points

Authenticated documents of diability to be attached to the form. Children with special needs will be admitted if they can cope up with the system of inclusive education offered at Springdales.

Educational qualifications of parents, professions and work profile of parents and answers to questions about "views on children's education" asked for in the form have not been included for weightage points. It is only for information and the schools data base. No questions will be asked regarding parental income.

For reasons of transparency the Admission process will be monitored by an Admission Committee consisting of the Principal of the school, the Headmistress of the Junior School and 2 Parent Representatives of the Parent-Teacher Forum.
