Springdales School, Pusa Road observed the 65th Anniversary of the Hiroshima Day with a peace assembly on 6th August 2010. The programme included an article- A Remembrance; a presentation- 'Real and Present Danger'; a song by the choir; 'Lessons to Learn'– a poem by the students.Speaking on the occasion, the school principal, Mrs. Wattal focused on the responsibility of each individual to build a peaceful world free of weapons, wars, conflicts, suffering and intolerance. The guests, Mr.Kojiro Uchiyama, director Japan Information Centre and Prof. Swaran Singh, School of International Studies JNU appreciated the school’s efforts in spreading the cause of world peace and disarmament.In his talk, Prof. Singh emphasized the grave danger posed by nuclear weapons and expressed concern over its possible use by non-state players. He also outlined the positive attitudinal change in the world in the context of the ‘Nuclear Renaissance’ and a global dialogue initiated by the United States of America on creating a safer and nuclear-free world.
